Our latest research on intelligent packaging has just been published with Springer Nature in the Food and Bioprocess Technology as part of the special issue titled “Spinning Technologies for Food Application.” In this study, we investigated the fabrication and potential application of nanofibrous polycaprolactone mats loaded with purple basil extract as colorimetric pH indicator films for food packaging. Our findings emphasize the benefits of utilizing electrospinning to produce films from hydrophobic polymers that maintain structural integrity while ensuring adequate wettability, which allows them to respond rapidly to environmental pH changes, even with minimal amounts of extract.
